Front Chain Sproket

Post by Rickytic » Sat Sep 01, 2012 11:41 pm

Decided to take my CL77 down to the frame and restore it. When I took the right side case off the engine and removed the main drive chain I noticed the following.

The main drive chain sprocket (the small chain sprocket behind the right side case) appeared to be loose. The sprocket has two bolts in it that appear to be tight, however, I can rotate the sprocket right and left ever so slightly on the shaft, as well as slide it in and out also very slightly. The whole sprocket just seems to be loose on the shaft, is that normal?

Hello Rick,

This area is a slip fit and will have some play in it over time. As long as the bolts are secure in the lock plate it wont come off. You can check it for excessive wear and maybe replace the less expensive sprocket.

Goody,
Thanks again for the float bowl gaskets, will surely use them when I put this thing back together.
