cb77 engine case identical to cb72 engine case, ????

Post by hillhudson » Sun May 01, 2011 2:40 am

i have a cb77 rebuild project going and i realized upon cleaning the bottom crank case that its cracked right down the middle of a threaded hole, i also have a cb72 engine, so my question is, would it be possible to use the bottom crank case from the cb72 on my cb77 ? bill silvers book says that the crank cases are very similar to identical but i want to know what people here have to say on the matter,

thanx

I've done it several times without a problem. Are the engines close in year?
