no kick stuck kicker

Post by abert51 » Tue May 25, 2010 10:04 am

nice new motor been sitting inside for about a year. Just waiting its turn. Now Kick lever seems stuck real solid like. Can't kick it a bit. I am fearing stuck rings but all that stuff (rings, pistons, barrels, valves etc are brand new last year and bike has not been run yet. Can the kicker get stuck at TDC? Do I have to remove the side cover and check the guts in there? Can't roll bike in gear either. Back tyre just skidds along. After all the work restoring, it would be nice to get it running. Thanks.

abert51,
As stated in your other thread, It would be highly unlikely to stick this engine at tdc. That said the best way to tell what's going on is to find neutral, remove the right side case, remove the stator and try to rotate the rotor. If it won't move, then you may very well have some stuck rings. I just don't see them being that stuck and with some WD-40 or such and a strap wrench on the rotor, you should break er free. Then on the other hand if the crank turns OK ya need to start looking at the tranny. You did indicate you ran it before and that you rebuilt the upper end. Did you get in to the lower part? RW
