Joining the CL77 restoration club!Well, after over nine months of storing a 1966 CL77 that I pruchased without a title (probably won't do that again) I finally got all the paperwork in order and actually own the thing for real! Anyhoo, all the parts are there including a stuck motor. Let the games begin!
vintage titlesI heard back in the day the dealers used the year the bike actually sold as the year on the title instead of the manufactured date. Might explain why the previous registration said 1966?
Year of mfg.Look at the wire harness near the switch and you should find a tag listing the year of MFG. The only fly in the ointment would be a PO changing the harness. RW
Yes they were often titled as the year first sold. Look ing at the tag on the wiring harness, will tell you what year the wire harness was manufactured. I learned from a Honde employee, worked at the Honda plant in the late sixties, early seventies, they'd close the plant mid August for two weeks, re-tool, and antything made after re-opening was the next years model. If you look at the steer tube on 70s' Hondas, the have a federal tag that has VIN, year model, and MFG date. Often you will see MFG 9/76 1977 Model.
