Oil PumpOil PumpI searched the posts for "Oil Pump" and couldn't find an answer to this question.
Has anyone ever "rebuilt" an oil pump? Seems like a brass insert could be machined fairly easily that would be inserted where the hex bushing is for the drive shaft. In doing that, it would also seem that gears with a little more width could be made (requiring a little machining for the bottom gear as well) that would pump more oil and perhaps relieve some of the problems that these bikes appear to have due to minimal oil circulation. It would seem that a higher volume oil pump would be a very good investment, probably extend engine life significantly and pay for itself by avoiding or delaying expensive rebuilds. I had a hard time getting a good picture of my pump. It has circular gouges in the housing on both sides of the top pump gear and around the outer circumfrence as well. Way more than beyond tolerance for replacement based on a post I did find by Davomoto. Am I stuck with reusing a vintage pump that may be worn, but still pumps "enough" oil?
Re: Oil PumpIt's ruined aqnd why would anyone make a part to repair one pump.
I have the CB and the CL pumps which I've taken apart and ckecked and cleaned and are good to go for $32.00 US. ..............lm
