Cam Chain Guide Roller Pin

Post by HondaLVR » Sat Mar 28, 2009 4:33 pm

I am rebuilding the top end of a 65 CL77 and found the cam chain guide roller to be very loose on the pin. When I took it apart I found the pin to be oval shaped. Is this normal or do I need to replace the pin? The bike has been in the family since new and has 23k miles. Take a look at the attached picture.

If I do need a new pin where can I find one?

Thanks!

You definitely need to replace either the roller or the pin, perhaps both. Check with Ohio Cycle and Western Hills Honda for new parts. Sometimes the rollers are available on ebay. If you can't find a new pin, locate a good used one, perhaps from emo (lm). --Randall

Thanks Randall. I got a new one. I wasn't sure about that pin to begin with. After close inspection of the cylinder I found where the cam chain had rubbed against the walls. I didn't think that such a pin would wear down so much.
