About 4 months ago I started researching Honda Scramblers. I've owned too many motorcycles in my life to mention them all and over half have been Hondas. Several have been used but none have been older, collectible bikes.

There are more 350 Scramblers available now than 305's. Is the 305 truly better?

Second, where can I get a ballpark estimate of what an old scrambler is worth? There are several early 70's 350's on Cycletrader right now. All the decent ones are priced between $2100 and $2500. There's a '72 in Oregon priced at $2195 that the owner sent me photos of. He says--and he strikes me as an honest guy--it's been gone through, tuned up, new tires and tubes, and has a little less than 13,000 miles. Cosmetically it looks pretty good (not new and not perfect, but very good). He also said there is no rust.

Is that too much money for that bike? I can provde photos if anyone wants to see them.

Thanks, Superchicken. I already found the ad and will contact the owner this evening.

by the way, the older ones are definitely cooler, but are the 305's better bikes? They seem to be more expensive (from what I'm seeing)--probably from a desireability factor.

Correct the 305s are more desirable. The 350s are tecnologically superior, lighter, faster, and probably even more dependable. All that said, I much prefer the 305s!

it's the 60's look for me. I'm hard pressed to find a bike from the 70's that is visually appealing to me. it all just gets blah to me.

I like the 60's and 70's bikes, it's the mid 80's and up "crotch rockets" that turn me cold.
