Cracked Case!Cracked Case!I know how the case goes together and how the bearings and pins have to fit, so can scarcely believe I did this...but apparently I did. Sigh. I'm sick over the situation.
Certainly I'm not the 1st _______ (insert label there) to do this. Can this be welded? Advice appreciated--as always. Cracked caseMay be able to weld it but you may warp the bearing and seal bore in the process.
I'm with Joe, get another case. Sorry, Gary '65 CL77 Owner
Re: Cracked Case!Folks do this all the time. Peal the raised area away and wash it and the area with spray contact cleaner. Mix a small batch of J.B. WELD and put it in the area followed with the chip then put a batch on the entire area and let it set. Make sure the whole area is covered when hard and you have it repaired enough to use the engine. If you don't want to do this then split the case and remove the chip and drive the knock pin out and wash with cleaner and J.B. the chip in place and before hard punch pin in until it moves the chip then push the chip down and add more J.B. ...............lm
