oil leak tragedy

Hey guys, I just completed another engine for a superhawk I've been working on, rebuilt the engine, used complete new d&k gasket kit. Got the engine running, sounds great, runs great, but leaks like a fiend at the front of the head gasket. Doesnt pour out until you shut it off, then it leaks like a banshee. I used the supplied o-rings for the dowels, surfaced the head etc. Cant figure out whats going on. Obviously I'll have to pull it back down, but just thought I'd get your opinions. Could it be the gasket supplied with the kit? I've used 4 of these gasket sets on the last 4 engines and haven't had a problem yet. Any ideas? thanks nutt

Sounds like crankcase pressure is building up and forcing the oil out once you shut it down. Are the vents clear? Just my un-educated opinion.

I had the same thing happen on an MG engine I rebuilt once.

Never thought of that, thanks Cribbs, I'll check it tomorrow. If they are open, I'm pullin her back down and checking the oring thickness compared to the headgasket thickness. I'm thinking the orings supplied may be too thin. I'll keep ya posted. 305 nutt
