help please
help pleaseI have a cb77 with two left carbs instead of the left and right combi, the previous owner put velocity stacks. I just had the top end changed piston resleeved new pistons and rings, thing is
everytime i ride it seems to stutter and fouls the plugs on the left side. My friend put the air up to 2 , and advanced the ignition a bit to help quiet her down its been 400 km since the rebuild and we cant seem to find the problem
Open two turns seems too much.Did you go over carbs or rebuild them?Float adjustments correct?Have seen old posts on here where quys have had the carb slides installed backward causing problems.Does it foul the plug at idle?May want to clean or put a fresh plug in if that is the case and try moving the clip on the main needle up one notch on the carb. This would lean it out?Lots of things to try.Good luck.
Hey kd, fouling just the left plug sounds to me like the l/h carb has a r/h slide in it. With the air tubes off, can you see equal gaps the the bottoms of the slides when the throttle is shut? Should be about 2-3mm, I think. Pull the slides out of the carbs and examine them; each should be a mirror image of its counterpart. If they're identical, then that's the main part of your fouling/poor running problem. Slides' cutaways should face the filters!
Oh btw, your previous remedies' descriptions (looking for air leaks / raising the needles) will serve only to enrich the fuel/air mixture; a fouled plug tells us that it's already way too rich (or oiling up, which is another problem altogether).
