Okay, this was supposed to be simple. Remove the intake rocker cover cap, clean it up and put it back on. I don't have any plans to tear this motor apart, as it was running just fine before I started a 'cosmetic' resto.
But, when I took off the rocker cover cap I discovered the threads in the cylinder head are 'chipped', and the threads on the cap itself are destroyed. Anyone have any suggestions as to how the threads could be restored in the cylinder head, without dismantling the top end? I'm open to suggestions here. Thanks![/img]
I tried posting an image, the damage can be seen at the top left of the thread.
Damaged Rocker Cover Thread
Re: Damaged Rocker Cover ThreadStuff the area with cloth so particles can't get inside then using a DREMEL tool with a 1/2 inch sanding drum remove any of the damaged threads.
Put some white grease on the threads and the cover should thread right in. Do leave any threads at the inside ya can. .................lm
