I kinda suspected that might be the case. The Kawasaki part is about 7 mm in diameter larger then the Honda cam chain tensioner wheel, but I don't think that will be a problem. I don't have an issue with the machining.
I do have a question about exchanging wheels. The fastener looks semi-permanent. Any helpful tips on RRing the fastenerer?

Also is there a substitute for the lower cam chain guide wheel?

Thanks for the help

Ya can get all the correct parts and only pay a fair price for them.
Or ya can go on the cheap and work the system in an effort to save a couple of $$$ and ask for help to do it.
Man I do love it!. ...............lm

At this point, I am so beyond budget on this project, I am forced to pinch pennies in order to get it finished up in the home stretch.
I couldn't find a cam chain tensioner mechanism at any price, so I am glad to find out I can at least replace the wheel on it with the Z1 part. Any tips on how to replace it?

I will bit the bullet and shell out $45 for a cam guide wheel. Having worked at bike dealerships all my life, I am having a hard time swallowing paying that kind of money for a rubber wheel. But, I do certainly understand the rarity of NOS parts for this bike. I would also prefer not to use a NOS rubber part of undeterminate age and condition if I could find a fresher substitute.

Hi,

That must be a long time ago, because the Japanese Yen has reached is highest point against the USD. Prices of Japanese motorbike parts are sky-high at the moment.

assembly of Japanese motorcycles requires great peace of mind (Pirsig)

I'll be replacing mine with the one in the picture, but can do that this weekend if you're desperate. My old one is OK; I'm completely reconditioning the motor.

Which width screw centres do you have? The tensioner's width was changed at CB77E-1050999 (circa '66?) from 41mm to 32mm between fixing centres. Mine's the former.

PM me an offer if you're interested.

I have a way to save the rubber wheels as long as they aren't to terribly worn. .....lm

Mine are not terribly worn or cracked, just very hard from age.
