Have you sprayed starter fluid in the carb when the engine is running?
That will prove gas or no gas and then you can go from there. .............lm

Anyway, compression is 160# on the cylinder. Cleaned carbs until I am blue in the face. I did have a lot of trouble with the low speed jets cause of a nasty fuel tank. Guess I will have to pull it again. Don't know what else it could be.

Thanks, Jim

right side not firing well

Post by Jim Stuart » Fri Jun 06, 2008 9:37 am

No, I have not tried starter fluid but I will. I found this morning that the left cylinder was advanced on the mark. In order to get it on I have to have the points at .008. That does not seem right. If the left cylinder was firing ahead, would that have effect on the right side?? I will fire it up again this afternoon (cannot disturb neighbors) and see if the closer firing setting on the left side had any effect on the right side. Will let you know.

Thanks
JIm

If the right side is at .014 and set at "F" then don't worry what the gap for the left side is as it must open at "LF" ..............lm

right cylinder firing

O.K. But it still doesn't make sense that the left is at .008, and the right is at .014.
