Some of my training was from SHKU [School of Hard Knocks University]!
The factory spring seats have a small c'bore on the bottom to retain/clear the guide clip wire - I may have to cut a small 45 chamfer in the head to drop the wire down a little, and turn up shims for under the spring seat that will fit close on the guide - will serve same purpose as c'bore in spring seat; it all depends on how much further valves drop down in head.
The Barling bomber was certainly massive - quite impressive for 1924 - I need to look up specs on it.

Like you say, Graham, if it burns fuel, makes noise, and smells, I'm into it! A miniature Laverda SF? That would be too cool! I'll look that up, as I haven't seen one of those for years.

A coincidence, I too am a modelmaker & manufacturer, & WREN TURBINES are a mile or so from me, & only last summer they had an 'open-day', very interesting to see how they make them, here are few pics.

The USA distributor for Wren is near Wren Ohio, about an hour from me.

Been working on the head, polishing and cleaning up the casting - still need to mask off and bead blast, then a thorough cleaning, install guides and cut seats
