I use a small artist brush with the bristles cut off short to make them stiffer. I put the thinnest layer possible on just one surface, around screw holes etc. Other folks will run a thin bead instead of painting like I do.

Brian how far is second gear goin in. The coggs that actually make contact on the side of the gear.

I use a rubber glove and spread the HONDABOND4 with my finger. ..........................lm

1) What is the shallow hole near the alignment pin on the left of the pic? Seems to butt against a similar shallow hole when the cases are put together. It doesn't seem like it could serve any purpose? Just wondering.

2) Any tips on applying the hondabond ht sealer? Should it be applied to all the mating surfaces? Should i do anything special around the screw holes? Any specific pattern to follow?

Thanks,

I bought off set gear cottors to move second gear over for better dog engaugement. It engauges about 50% now.

It replaces the stock gear cotter with an offset gear cotter. If you lack dog engaugement the offset cotters push the gear further toward the mating gear. When shifted into that gear you will have more engaugement. I got them from Bill SIlvers, i'm not sure who else would have them.

the only advise I'll give is make sure you are completely ready to assemble the cases before putting on the yamabond or hondabond because it sets up fast, so be ready and work fairly quick. If it sets up before you get it assembled, it is tough to clean off!! You are correct on the offset cotters, thats probably the best thing you can do to a trans on one of these things, keeps em from jumping out of gear under throttle. Western Hills honda usually keeps them. nutt

So that's it, it's together. It seemed to go ok except for the bolt in the last pic, it seems the threads are stripped inside the case. The bolt goes in easily by hand but won't tighen up.
