Whole or Part?

Post by 66scrambler » Thu Jun 21, 2018 1:04 pm

Hi everyone.

So I have recently picked up a '66 CL77 Scrambler from a swap meet. Seized when I bought it. I've been able to get the pistons exposed but no amount of PB Blaster or persuasion seems to be moving them.

My question is, what is the ratio of the pistons in relation to each other? Though my pistons are off set, they seem to both be too close to the bottom of the stroke, which means to me that maybe I've thrown a rod, or something else.

I'd like to keep trying to persuade the pistons and NOT open the case if I don't have to.

Any help is appreciated.

It would save a lot of time to just go ahead and pull the lower crankcase off. Then you can place a steering wheel puller over the cylinder studs and use it to push the pistons out without damaging any more parts.
