Tachometer Cable Oil Seal?

Post by ojwilliams1 » Sun Jan 24, 2016 2:11 pm

I'm trying to find out if and where I can get a new oil seal for the tachometer drive cable for my recently purchased CB72 Hawk. I have an EBay receipt for a new “Genuine Honda” cable that the previous owner installed and I understand that it should have come with a new seal but as the photo shows the one that’s there is old, cracked and worn. I don't see it anywhere in the parts manual that I have. Any help is appreciated.

If it is any help, I cured an oil leak from this location by placing a fibre washer between the cable and the housing. I did not have a seal like yours on my cable.

Hi, standard 7x14x4mm rotary seals work well, remember to place control side towards tacho drive.

Bought from ebay for $3.72 and installed:
"AVX Shaft Oil Seal TC7x14x4 Rubber Lip 7mm/14mm/4mm metric"
Matched old seal perfectly. No more leak. Thanks guys.

You are welcome, glad to hear the oil is staying where it's supposed to be. Cheers,
PhilD.
