It's been 48 years since I owned a superhawk, and just picked up two 1966's; where's valve adj procedure here, and specs?Also, with the dynamo cover removed, the rotor is stamped cb72 - same as cb77?
I set the rh piston at the t mark on the compression stroke and the int and exh clearances were .004" cold; rotatated crank 180 to the lt mark, and same for those - is this correct? Am looking for a shop manual. Thanks

valve clearance adjustmentHi Dick and welcome back to Super Sport ( Super Hawk on your side of the pond ) ownership. Your procedure for valve clearance adjustment is correct. Points gap should be 0.12 - 0.16in , 0.3-0.4mm set on the RF and LF marks using a similar procedure after which ignition timing can be set. If you look through the forum you will find details of how to carry out all the maintenance procedures and links to downloadable versions of the owner's manual, parts list and workshop manuals.. The Bill Silver guides are recommended if you are doing a full restoration. To the best of my knowledge all rotors are marked CB72 with later versions CB72 L to denote a low output alternator introduced to try and prevent overcharging and battery boiling. Happy riding.

Dick, if you PM me your email address I will try to send you copies of the documentation. The forum can be a bit difficult to navigate and the search facility isn't great but you learn a lot by just reading through the posted threads. Personally I think we need more posts on riding experiences to complement the excellent technical / engineering posts and hope to contribute to this myself now that my CB77 restoration is road worthy.
