Oil Leak from "drip hole"?
Oil Leak from "drip hole"?My CA77 305 has this small oil leak coming from this drain hole on the right side of the engine. What is behind that side cover to cause this? Also... is it a big deal or "hard" to fix?? OR should I just let it drip a 3" round size oil stain until it gets really bad? It eventually stops dripping after it has cooled down.

Thanks!! Do you have any suggestions on a "Search" word? OR a link would be nice. I don't mind searching, but I've found that you must have a "key" word in order for it to be useful. 8^) Be nice if someone had a photo of what behind that case looks like. I DO have the WHOLE set of PDF files and Service Manual from Bill Silver that I bought from him. Jim
Now working/riding on my 1965 CA77 Dream... Here's a couple of pics. No mystery really, you can see all the seals except the one in the starter sprocket that seals against the crankshaft. The big seal behind the rotor seals around a journal on the starter sprocket. Four of the seals go into the aluminum case halves and you need to soften the sharp edges on those holes before you try to push the new seals in. Take it apart and when you have specific questions, try the search or just ask away!
Perfect! Thanks for those pictures! It removes the "mystery" of whats behind the cover! I may or may not fix it now due to how much it will leak. If it stays the way it is, I'll wait till cooler weather, but if it starts to get worse, I'll have to fix it now.
THANKS AGAIN! That was exactly what I was looking for. just a peek behind the scenes so to speak. Jim
