Post by hooligan971 » Thu Aug 02, 2007 9:46 am

I was just given an engine with the casting code cl77e 1016400. I have'nt had time to search the database yet and was hoping that someone might help me with id.
Thanks,

Patrick , those numbers stamped into the engine case means it is an engine for a CL77 Scrambler. it has 305cc's

i understand you can tell a year of manufactor by the range of serial numbers , maybe someone else will jump in and explain that..i've seen it before and never really paid attention

as far as i know , there is no other meaning of the engine number

Thanks guys,
The guy gave me the motor when he heard I was thinking about putting together a vintage racer. He also said he has another identical motor that he will bring when he can dig it out. He also gave me a non running 1970 cb450 with a spare motor. which of these might be the better candidate for a racer? Does anyone sell frames for this purpose?
Patrick
