1967 CA77 Connecting rod Bearings

Post by willy_j » Wed Jul 31, 2013 7:21 pm

I need to know where I can get the cages and bearing rods for a 67 CA77. The ones that I need are for the connecting rod. Are there any sources for them here in America, or will I have to order them off of CMSNL? The right rod has rather an immense amount of lateral movement, especially in comparison to the left one, which leads me to believe the bearing to be in its deathbed.

Changing rods

It is a pretty involved process and extremely difficult without the right equipment. You should consider sending it out to a specialist. No splines so it is a pain to get everything lined up where it will run true. Pitting on the shafts/rollers is common, too.

The other option is to look for a used one on Ebay. A bit of a crap shoot, but I have picked up a couple of pretty fair ones for decent prices. Be patient and one will come along.

Dear Willy J, I concur with Conbs. It is only easy if one has the press and fixtures. The big problem is that when the bearings are on the way out most likely the same applies to the conrods and the inner flywheels. None of these items are easy to find. All the best Jerry
