some bugs showed up! i expected some so not a huge deal.
It sure was sweet though! Bought her almost 6 years ago and tore her down to bits without ever riding her. The only thing thats not up to par with the modern bikes are the rear shocks. But thats easy. Solid, planted, and plenty of pep! What a beautiful sound the exhaust note makes too.
#1 Is my head gasket weeps ( its the blue one)
i have got an original (honda) but there is an extra hole iin it...can i use it?
#2 I have too much oil seepage around the right plug. I also have some black oil dripping from the right exhaust header to head joint as well. Is this a skull seperation scenario? The skull isnt loose or anything but maybe these are symptoms of of oil migrating between the skull and head?
The spark plug for sure, but the black nasty oil is my main concern there. the motor oil is new, and clean so the black oil is a worry, and it gets on my leg!
The plugs do not foul, all surfaces were cut and all fasteners torqued, heat cycled and re-torqued a bit more. I look forward to your responses and thanks as always! oh yeah, i put 50 miles on the shakedown run and there is no oil loss on the dipstick.
finally got to ride her...but...Congrats! Now - the oil around the plug may be a seepage issue around the skull, but oil can also show up there from other places (valve cover, points shaft seal, etc). There isn't really any place for oil to leak out near the exhaust header, so could it be coming from the exhaust valve cover/cap on that side?
The Honda head gasket is fine if we're talking about a single, small hole punched at the factory (at about 10 inches low in the picture). Either the older or newer version had those - can't remember which. -48 thanks 48 lesco! thats the hole for sure. one problem down.
the spark plug oil is most certainly from the skull as i can see it come out after a good wipedown, it will also bubble a little bit. its the black oil that is for sure dripping from said joint that has me puzzled. maybe it is a valveguide but i have no smoke from the exhaust. so in a way i was hoping the oil is migrating through the skull, turning black from the heat and very slowly working its way out the joint. the valve caps dont leak, nor the gasket or seal. i did rule those out before posting. i have a head core wich i think is the best solution...so far hoping i can swap the internals over, aww man! but big thanks for the info and insight. now to find time!
