From inside motor

Post by cadman » Sat Feb 02, 2013 8:23 pm

Finally drained the oil today and found metal particles and this "thing". It is about 3/8" diameter and 1/8" thick. A little bit like a cupped washer. Anyone know what it is or where it can from??

Thanks - Don

Pull the cam chain tensioner off the back of the cylinder and see it anything looks out of place. If that looks ok, pull the primary cover off, check out the shift drum stopper arm and the primary chain adjuster for missing pieces.

It might be a good idea to drop the pump assembly, out the bottom of the engine, to see if there are any more pieces in the screen.

I have had both if those apart and didn't see anything unusual. What bothers me more are the fine metal shavings.
