Using stock CA pistons in CB77 - thoughts?

Post by Jlovvorn » Wed Nov 14, 2012 10:12 am

I have seen several references to using CA pistons in the CB77 to raise compression.

Including here: http://www.rivetrestorations.com/Motorc ... istons.pdf

Anyone have thoughts on this, or has anyone done it?

What would be the expected results?

And will the rings be different between the two pistons?

Thanks!

The CA77 piston lacks the squish band of the CB77 piston, so I would expect some interference between the CA piston and CB head. You may have to do some machining to provide clearance. I've not tried it though.

Early CA pistons used thicker rings.
