Cylinder head removalDo not see why you could not replace with anothr master link.I think I read somewhere on here that someone has done that(maybe Loud Mouse).Top end can come apart without splitting the case.I have seen a method off using a steering wheel puller with a bunch of stacked sockets to push pistons loose.I even used a big pair of channel locks on the rotor and was able to pop a froze piston loose, but you will nick the rotor up though.
I was in the exact same situation last week. I was tearing into a CL77 that had been out in the weather and the cylinder sat with water in them.....for a very long time. It was locked up the worst of any engine I've worked on. I had to cut the cam chain to get the head off. I used a piece of 2" round Nylon bar stock as a drift to beat the pistons loose. Once the less corroded one was loose, I turned the crank so the cylinders came up off the case. Then I put some hard plywood spacers between the cylinders and case and knocked the stubborn pistn down. Then I added spacers, hammered, added, hammered, etc. I also missed the drift once and really screwed up some fingers.....
I have a question.....what kind of master link does the cam chain take? Is it the type that has to be staked/crimped/riveted/etc? That's all I found and I also found a breaking/ staking tool that costs $81...
