installing new cam chain for cl77

Post by CFL » Thu Sep 06, 2012 10:00 am

I just bought a new cam chain from EK for my cl77 and it doesn't fit. It is about a half a link to short. The seller says I am doing something wrong. My old chain fits just fine. Anybody have a reason for it not fitting. Also, when I turn the cam chain one complete revolution or two it moves one link forward from the dot on the cam sprocket. Is that normal? Sincerely, CFL Thank you for your help.

The link can't stay at the same point on the sprocket with each revolution as the 2 gears are not the same size.
The seller is correct.
The original fits easily as it is stretched from use.
The new one is NEW.
You need to make it fit as long as it is a 94 link. .........lm

Make up some spacers to put over the studs (10mm nuts work) and tighten the head down slightly until you can get the master link in. You just have to compress the gaskets a little to get it to fit.
