Racing pistons CB77

Post by briggsman » Sun Sep 09, 2012 3:02 pm

These parts were made by Kenig of Italy back in the 70's.
10.5:1 Compression, will the bottom end (rod bearings mainly) handle this?

I just built an engine with these and am having all kinds of trouble getting it to run right. Not blaming it on the pistons, but something is definitely not right. I'm considering going back to stock pistons if I can't figure it out this week.

As far as the bearings go, they're Japanese ball bearing made back in the day (a sign of quality), I'm sure they'll be fine if they in good shape.

Running at 10.5:1 might require some changing of the timing and running higher octane gas.

Keep me posted on getting the bugs out of your build 56oval.
What about running a stage 3 jet kit in the carbs?
Do they make hi-po cams for these cb77's?

I just talked to Ed and he informed me that stock jets should suffice. After he explained it, I don't know why I didn't see it in the first place. All we're doing is upping the compression. We're not upping the bore or the stroke. He is sending me a new set of stock jets and I'm gonna try that. I'll post any results.

56_oval, will the stock rings fit those Kenig pistons?

Found these on ebay:

He said the rings were 1.80mm thick, my stock rings were 1.45mm thick.
