Honda T500 truck piston rings CA 72

hello hondists


i am restoring a Honda T500 (truck) and i need new piston rings. as far as i have found out the piston rings from the CA72 STD are the same as i need. (13010-259-000 Ring set

I have no shop manual of the honda CA72, can somebody send me piston and pistonrings information to me?

the sizes i need are

piston ring diameter 54mm
Top ring thickness 1.5mm
second ring thickness 1.5mm
oil ring thickness 2.75mm

I don't have rings, but I think the T-500 maybe about the coolest vehicle Honda ever made. A pickup body on a sports car motor/chassis. The YouTube videos of guys racing these pickups are pretty amazing.

I had read somewhere that there were only 2 of these on the N. American continent. One is in immaculate condition and I heard the other was in really rough shape. Is yours #3?

Please post your location. There may be someone nearby that has the rings you need.

I live in the Netherlands, i don't think that is nearby enough for you! .

Yes these cars are supurb. The T500 is from a friend of mine. He bought the car 4 years ago, we found this car in a shed (the pictures in my earlier post) and it has been there for more than 30 years, along with about 2 S600 convertibles and 5 S800 coupes, and a complete truck of used spares.
The T500 was the only T imported in the netherlands, and it belongs to the Dutch honda importer over here.

The reason why i am searching for motorcycle rings is as follows. I also restoring a honda S600 convertible at the moment, and due to the fact that piston rings are not available any more i found out that the pistonrings STD honda S600 are the same at 3e 0.75mm pistonrings honda cb72 (13040-268-000)

Every pickup should sound as cool as your T-500 does. Thank you for posting that link.

In your first post you give a standard bore C72 part number, but in your second post you give a 3rd over (.75) oversize CB72 part number. Both 250's, but two different sizes of rings.

Best wishes for success on this project. I hope you will post the results when you are done.

thanks for the very interesting photo's. I have always liked the S600, very rare car here in the states, I passed on a barn find 25 years ago and regretted it ever since. can you explain to us the design of the rear gearboxes/suspension? I guess I never realized it was that complex.

Hello

mr conbs"bad" englisch, i try to do my best. i speak about two different cars at first the honda T500 and in the second part about the S600.

The T500 is honda's first truck and the S600 is honda's first exported car.
the youtube film is the honda S600 engine.

Now about the rear supension. I believe the reason honda made this rear suspension was because the only had knowledge of motorcycles in those day. ANd due to the fact that this was the easiest way to bring the car quickly on the road was using what the already new.

The first honda S800 was also a chain driven car, later on the "normal" supsension was used. I think the did it on two reasons. they had some more time to find out how you make a normal rear axle and second the chain driven vehicle had a to heavy suspension whick was not good for driveability.

i hope i have explained it the way you guys understand

Randy, Jay Leno's Garage has a nice piece on his S600. It shows his resto with a nice shot of the chain drive rear end. Check out the sound of the motor as he is driving it at the end. As the kids say these days, "That thing is sick."
