Oil leak from behind stator... advice please... CA77 305

That looks a little harsh in red - sorry... Anyway, I wouldn't worry about trying to clean the oil off the windings, you'll do more damage than good. Leave it oily. The stock charging system and 9ah batteries on these things is barely adequate. Make sure the battery is fully charged and don't idle for a long time especially with the lights on. Battery Tender Jr is a good investment. I haven't tried any of the more modern rectifiers but that may help too. There are a lot of posts on the charging system in the electrical section.

I've read most of the significant threads on charging problems. Not a great system, for sure. But battery voltage on mine while at 3000 rpms is 12.2V and I gotta believe I need more than that. All of the wiring and rectifier checks out. Now I just need to get the bike running again and perform the checks in Bill Silver's literature.
