Clicking noise in motor-CA77E

Post by redlinerob » Mon Feb 19, 2007 3:58 pm

I am currently rebuilding the top end and now that I have the top end disassembled when I turn the crankshaft clockwise, there is a clicking noise coming from inside the lower cases (I think in the transmission area). Obvisouly the oil is drained with both side cases removed and everything seems to be in order. The noise sounds uniform but I am not sure if this is normal or the cases need to be split to investigate. I have never heard this on other motor rebuilds, but I must admit this is my first rebuild on a vintage motor. Any knowledge before splitting the cases would be appreciated.

I heard the same click when I was rebuilding. Do as Joe says and it will probably go away, mine did.
