engine idle,way too fast
engine idle, way too fastAm just finishing my cb77 restoration and have a problem with my idle speed. The bike starts well, but idles about 4000 r.p.m. I guess thats not what you call idle! I thought a carb clean-up would do, no change. So I tried new phenolic spacers and O-rings.not it. I'm perty sure it's sucking air,but where? Also the left pipe is going a little gold as the right pipe is not. Should I be looking at a head gasket?? Anyone ever heard of this?
Re: engine idle,way too fast?????
Sounds like ya got a doozie there !
Are the slides in reversed(dont laugh it happpens to the best of us)?
What are the carbs set at i.e.-jet sizes,float levels,slide height,needle position,etc...
Have ya sprayed any carb cleaner near the carb flanges to see if it revs higher ?
Is the ign advance stuck at full advance (Had this happen and it drove me apeshit !) ?
Just some suggestions.

georGe
Re: engine idle, way too fastGeorge, Thanks for the help, I thought the slides only went in one way????? I'll look at that. Also never thought about the advance, will ck that too.
Re: engine idle, way too fastJust want to let you (anyone interested) I got my idle problem taken care of. It was a simple matter of re-reading my Clymer book and adjusting the idle stop screws and idle mixture setting!! To easy! Shouldn't panic so easy. Finally got my first ride on it today, what a rush after a year of working ,collecting parts, etc. Not perfect yet, but should be soon.
Re: engine idle, way too fastGlad to here it was that easy !

Good Luck, georGe
