C72 starting after rebuild

Post by pc13cb92 » Sun Mar 06, 2011 5:17 pm

I've spent this last winter restoring and rebuilding a spare motor for my 1962 model C72, following kickstart problems with the original motor. I decided to build my spare and do a swop, to let me have plenty of time to sort the kickstart gearbox problem.
After many 'learning experiences', and lots of information from the forum I had the rebuilt motor ready to change. This was done, and everything connected up, - but it would not run. After checking everything I connected the old condenser off the original engine, and it went straight away.
Now what got me was that I had bought a NOS condenser ( non honda) to save me from this very potential problem!
Anyhow today I have managed to change the condensers over. I made a box spanner to size, and with a lot of fiddling about got it done without dropping the motor again.
Shows how you cant always trust new bits, always check everything. dont assume.
