Exhaust Collars

Post by bonjour » Sun Oct 10, 2010 9:00 am

Hello,

I have a quick question on the exhaust collars.

I could not figure out how they have to be installed, but now I was thinking...

Do the collars need to go OVER the exhaust pipe ?

If you are talking about the two piece collars, yes. You slide the finned header clamp over the header pipe and then install the header flange into the exhaust port. then you place the 2 piece collars around the header, with the flanged end towards the clamp. Then when you install the clamp and tighten the nuts on the studs, the clamp presses on the collar halves, which in turn press on the flange of the header pipe and make the seal between the header flange, the exhaust gasket and the bottom of the exhaust port.

Rob

All CL72/77 do have the Flanged Ends on the collars and until the one piece mufflers came along the CB72/77 didn't have flanges.
Just to let y'all know. ...................lm

Thanks, that explains it all.

I had trouble with installing it, I could not figure out how they were installed. So when I had my 'sit back and relax' moment, I thought 'this must be the way'

Anyway, thanks !
