I have 1965 CL77 Scrambler a friend gave me that has been sitting outside for about 24 years which as you can imagine was pretty much a mess when I got it. The inside of the motor looked like it came off the Titanic when I opened it up.
Believe it or not I was able to clean up the internals, but had to replace the crank, pistons, cam chain and trans. To date I have the motor totally put back together and was trying to set the ignition timing. The contact points close on the F mark instead of opening on the F mark. Does the point can need to be rotated 180 degrees or is the cam timing off. The repair book I had was the old original translated from Japanes and was very vague in describing the cam timing procedure and it is possible I could have it wrong. Any help in the procedures needed to set the cam timing, point cam install, and ignition timing would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance......Rick
