Did another tappet adjustment today and had to make a few corrections. Turned the engine over a few times by hand and adjusted again. Seemed like this thing goes out of whack every time you turn the engine. Anyway, finally got everything within spec and stable and it seems to run well. At least it sounds good.

Got a few goodies today from Classic Honda as well. New plugs which I'm sure will help. The ones in there were the wrong kind with a larger gap. New knobs for my side covers, and a new shiny gas cap which doesn't seem to work as well as my old one with the cork in it. Gas still spills out along the sides whenever the tank sloshes. Not sure what to do about that. Everything seems to fit tightly.

Now if I could just figure out how to get rid of that clutch slip. I don't suppose there's any way to take the plates out and clean them without turning the engine on it's side is there?

Few things noticed while cranking on the generator bolt...the right side seems to have a bit more compression than the left. It really pops the wrench over the hump when the piston is on the downswing. Doesn't do it as hard when compressing the left cylinder. Not a huge difference but enough to notice by feel.

Also, right plug seems to be remaining wet when pulled while left one is dry. Carbs seem to be adjusted well. Anybody have a magic formula for adjusting the carbs? I know the basics but there's always a trick to every engine. The clymer book is pretty much useless when it comes to adjustments on anything. Summation of clymer instructions: "replace carb and adjust by using the screws. You're done."

Cyclon, go the the 305 main page, on the left side toolbar you will see FAQ. Click on it, and then on How do I tune my factory stock motor on my CB72/77 or CL72/77 for optimum performance? It will lead you to Eds' tuning recipie. Follow it to the "T" , and your bike should be running well. If you still have issues with the carbs, do a search in the carb section of the forum, and all will be revealed.
