Here is a warning of something to check the next time you remove your left sidecover, especially if your engine has been stored for a long time.
As you probably know, part of the oil supply is fed to the transmission mainshaft through the clutch from the sidecover. The connection is made with a springloaded "oil guide", pictured below. It is the small tube concentric with the clutch.
I discovered my oil guide was fully pushed in, rusted to the clutch so that it could not seal against the sidecover. Who knows how much lubrication my transmission was getting? Probably some from oil splash.
Anyway, it is an easy fix if yours is stuck also. Pull it out gently with a pair of pliers, add penetrating oil and reinsert it, working until it is free moving and easily pushed out by the spring.
Good luck,
