CL77 'chrome' piston rings

Post by G-Man » Tue Sep 22, 2009 3:38 pm

Hi

I have searched in the forums but cannot find an answer to this question so here goes. I have two sets of rings for my CL77 rebuild

13030-275-000 and
13032-275-000

The second one is marked 'chrome' in the parts book. Is this a chrome top ring like Hepolite used to do to speed running-in or is it something else? Any thoughts on pros and cons of each type? I imagine that one type was more expensive than the other or why bother?

Any thoughts are welcome.

Both work just fine.
Do both have a silver first ring?
Use either as ya like. ........................lm

Hi LM

Thanks for the advice. '42 set has a silver (chrome plated?) top ring. '40 set are all gray (cast iron). Shall use the '40s for my rebuild.
