Re: help! 305 rebuildFirst. I usually look at bikes I get that don't run and haven't for a while and try and figure out why they cam eoff the road. You say that second gear is gone but haven't heard it run. Did the PO tell you it was gone? What's the story? If the gear is really gone, then that is probably why it is of the road and you don't need to worry about the rest of the engine. <br /><br />To fix- You can remove the kickstart side and clutch side engine cases, flip the engine over and unbolt the bottom without a lot of fuss... the cam chain might need to come out... It's been ten years since I did a gearbox only operation. There are a lot of tight tolerances in the gear box but nothing you can't work through.<br /><br />The engine. I would base your decisions on what you observe. If the bike came off the road because of the second gear but it ran ok, I wouldn't mess with it until the second gear is fixed. You can take the engine in and out in two hours so don't worry about a little in and out.<br /><br />Good luck and feel free to post specific question as they come up.<br /><br />Matt
