Ready to run - almost

Post by frenchman1952 » Mon May 04, 2009 9:19 pm

I'm almost ready to fire up (he said with newbie optimism) my 68 305 CA77. After setting for 20+ years the engine still turns over. I have cleaned the tank, rebuilt the carb, petcock, points, timing, valve adjustment, plugs, fresh oil, cleaned the oil filter (forgot what a pain that is), new air filter, fuel lines, etc.

I know there is lots of tweaking before it runs, but is there anything else I should do before I try to start it?

after sitting 20+ years , i'm sure the clutch is stuck...i'd try unsticking it first , or at least do that before you tried putting it in gear. on my CA77 it will stick after sitting for a few weeks.
