Camshaft Part??? What is it?

Post by youngjames » Sun Mar 22, 2009 6:20 pm

I'm working on a '67 CB77. This is the first engine I've ever taken apart. It seems like I do an hour of reading/research to 10 minutes of work in the garage. I have finally reached small impass. I got the camshaft out today. When I did I found that the piece that attaches to the piont cam and runs the advancer weights in the sprocket was broken. I imagine I broke it trying to get the cam locking bolt loose. I don't know what this part is called and cannot find it in any of my various manuals. If anyone knows the part number and where I might find another one, it would be a huge help. Is this part supposed to be somehow attached in the center of the sprocket. I'm worried I'm going to have to find a whole new sprocket for this bike. Any advice thoughts? I've attached some pics of the broken part. It's split right in half.
thanks!

Yes, it goes in the center of the advance unit. You may have to source another one. What year, motor number is important, and there was a change in spline size, so two different advance uniys. I may have a spare to sell. PM me if you're interested.
