OK, there I was taking my Hawk onto the highway for the first time in a long time after a 20 mile run on country back roads, cruising along at 70 , then loosing some power, down to 60, then my rear tire locked up, pulled the clutch instantly, engine stopped, coasted off the highway, took a deep breath, checked to be sure I had oil (I did), waited a couple of minutes, started it back up, idled OK, proceeded slowly to the next exit and home.
Now, as a precaution, I dumped the oil while still hot and didn't see anything alarming. put in fresh 30 weight, started again and it sounded and ran fine.
So, should I be searching for some 1st oversize pistons and going for a bore? Also, what was the trick I heard where oil holes were added to the back of the cylinder to better lubricate the piston skirts?
