Chunk missing from engine caseChunk missing from engine caseI was chasing down an oil leak from my CB160, and found a big chunk of case missing from the clutch rod seal housing!
I am sure this is the source. Is there anything to be done to seal it? Short of pulling the entire engine out and welding it. Someone really did a number on this case, probably trying to get the old seal out. cb160 002 by Jrlovvorn, on Flickr
It looks like somebody got the drive chain off the front sprocket at some time in the past. JB Weld will probably work to cover up the damage. Electric motor cleaner, in a spray can, will work good as a degreaser. The clip on the shifter shaft appears to be missing also, it needs to be there to keep the flat washer against the shifter shaft seal to shield it from grit.
