CB125 value?

Post by cyclon36 » Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:45 pm

There's a local guy that's selling a CB125 for $200 obo. It's not running but it sounds like a deal for a bike that's all together. Here's a pic:

what do you guys think? Deal or no deal?

Cyclone, that sounds like a decent deal if the motor kicks over, however that's an SL 125 gas tank on it.It looks to be about 1974 or 1975. $200.00, I say " DEAL"................................D

These little engine's will not ever break down.

Ive been driving it's little brother for 5 years now, practically everyday (daily drive to work) , with very minimal or NO maintainance , once in a year I renew the oil, set the points and the valve's and do a carb check, that's basically it.

I drive it HARD, almost everyday , for about 5 years now, and it NEVER failed me, EVER.

Always starts.

The only thing sometimes is the clutch, it tends to stick when parking it over in the weekend (mostly I also drive it in the weekends, but not always)

Fantastic little engine's they are, practically the same as the 50cc version (wich I have with an 80cc, 80cc head, and faster cam and carb) , probably is a 5 speed, I have a 4 , but it makes no difference in general.

200dollar is a fare price, 150 you can try, but why all that talk about 50dollar... just give 200dollar and be happy !

The reason why it's a none runner is probably the ignition, I remember in the first year I had my little Honda I putted on a new coil and points.
In general a weak point in every engine, just renew these things anyway, and your guaranteed that these parts will work for the next 10years to come.

Very low costs bike's to service or to repair, nothing ever break down !

Next year im going to try the little 125Twin engine, heard not much bad story's about them, but they seem to need more service than the single's.

It's so hard to pass up a good deal. I honestly don't know what I'd do with it. I'll be putting my money into my CB77 this winter and really only need one bike. I guess it's like women with shoes.

BTW, check out this guy's entire article. Looks like he was a die hard collector at one point and is either tired of it all, is moving, owes a lot of money, or got married :-)

I think 200 is fair but not really a money maker. As someone said the tank is wrong, it is missing at least one side cover as well as both fork boots. I can't really tell what condition the seat is in. It would probably take another $200 or so to get it up to snuff.

All of this stuff is do able but work - the real value of these things is originality like most bikes. Buy it if you want a fun runabout, I have several and they are a blast for running errands.
