just bought a CA 160-anyone else out there ?
just bought a CA 160-anyone else out there ?Just picked up a 1966 (thats what the title says) CA 160 a friend spotted at a yard sale. Looks to be in "reasonable" shape. Does have the original tool kit ! Got a replacement front fork on evilbay (has a nasty gash in the original) and have poked around in it a bit. Has compression, but no spark. Looks like it would run with some work. (maybe more work than I think.) PO said he rode it twice last year, but its been outside for a while.
Anyone else out there with one of these "baby dreams" ? Need a source of some info on it. Source for manual ? (I see there's a Clymer manual for 160's and other similar models- is it useful ?) Mikeyrx (Mike Mullins-Demotte IN) "a free motorcycle is a bottomless hole intended solely for money"

Nice find there Mike. I'm planning on working on my CB160 this winter. I've found a Intertec Vintage collection manual at the local library which has limited info and is probably compared to the clymer which I have not seen. Let me know if you come across anything worth getting. It does not have specifics on the dreams but gives engine breakdown. Have fun w/ your new Baby. Brent

re: CA 160Thanks guys. (Goodysnap, I didnt know you had a CB 160. Is it as nice as the CB 77 you had at the Gilmore show ? ) At present I just need to verify that I have set the timing correctly ( I think I have, but am not sure) I removed the points, plate, and cam/advance mechanism and cleaned everything till it works nice an smoothly. Bike actually has new ( last several years) tires. Gas tank is pretty bad on the inside and really pretty nice on the outside. Engine turns over with compression. There is oil coming out of the generator however. Havent pulled the rotor but I'd guess the seal is absolutely shot. Little spurts when you kick it over. Pretty much everything else is there. Headlight doesnt work, but the tail light, horn, and starter do. I have to finish stocking a Scheutzen rifle, and then my end of the basement is free to start seriously.

CA 160Thanks Tango. Well, I wouldnt call myself a veteran, but I appreciate the compliment (LOL) Nice to hear from a fellow Hoosier !! And you are certainly right, this forum is GREAT !! Those 2 bikes in your sig line are beautiful. I did have a pic of the CA 160 I bought attached to the message but I think it may be too big to come through.
I will add that when I pulled into the yard with the bike in the back of my Ranger truck, my wife said-well, it looks better than the other ones you brought home ! Mike Mullins (mikeyrx) "a free motorcycle is a bottomless hole intended solely for money"
