Hi does anyone know what kind of dyna coil I need to replace my stock cb160 coil, I'm not sure what number dyna coil I need, I'm also looking for an electronic ignition to replace the points, I heard that petronix ignition can be used but again i'm not sure what the part number on the petronix is or where I can get one. Any help on this would be great. I would like to update my electrical on my cb160 so it can ride better.

The best electronic ignition for a CB160 is probably a Dyna S. The DS1-3 for a GL1000 Honda fits straight on in place of the points but you only need one of the pickups. the rotor needs to be shortened to fit in place of the points cam, but you can do that with a hacksaw and file if you take your time.
the CB160 racers use Pertronix ignitions and I think Michael Bateman has them for sale. CB160 guys love them and everyone else claims they are unreliable.
For the coil you need a 5 ohm double output coil DC8-1 which come as pairs, so try to find one second hand.

teazer,
Do you know of a Dyna ignition that will fit the CB77?

Not off the shelf. It is difficult to get two DYNA pickups at 90 degrees apart if you start with most of teh 180 degree pickups (360 degree at crank). One or both have to be machined down a little and most of us are not ready to take a Dremmel to a 150 dollar ignition.
I just made one up for a race motor but that fits in place of the alternator on a shortened crankshaft so that took a stock 4 cylinder system.
It's worth taking a look at a GL1000 system and see if could be made to fit. The pickups are set at 90 degrees apart IIRC and should almost be a straight fit. You may have to make a new backing plate and transfer the pickups across.
