Steve
I'm in Plymouth all next week and will be coming back to Derby by train on Friday night. Happy to come down for a bit of an excursion. We could meet somewhere near Bristol perhaps. Let me know what your plans look like nearer the day and maybe we could sort something out.
Yes I agree - that CB250 of Bech's was gorgeous but I think that the CB250 'K0' was a worthy successor to the CB72. Interesting variation between your blue one with white headlamp ears and the red one with red ears. I have an old book with some colour pics in I'll have to check out.
Cheers

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!
Steve,
Nice bike, nice colors. Yes, the first series CB250 / 350 in those two tone colors are really nice. There's one here in my neighborhood, I see (and hear) it once in a while, I didn't have the change to meet the girl who owns it in person. Jensen assembly of Japanese motorcycles requires great peace of mind (Pirsig)
That would be great; but I wouldn't expect you to drive all the way to Briz'l. Maybe meet halfway between Abergavenny & Derby? Perhaps Worcester? I'm hoping to drop in on some friends near Gloucester in the process, too. I'd really like to have the time to blast into Derby and view your collection but need to get back to working on one of 'my' yachts which will be lying Portsmouth. I'd deffo be very interested in any literature that you can scan & post. BTW, that gold one you posted an image of..... is that the K2 to which you're referring? Honda seem to have zapped thru model changes & suffixes pretty quickly within the first couple of years. From what I've read, the 'K0' (sorry Rob [wombat200]) was launched in '68 and the K2 bubbled to the surface by '70; they look pretty much identical, so perhaps they changed the wattage of an instrument lamp between K1 & K2! Thanks, J-man. It's an interesting 'play' on the colour scheme, for sure. I found an image of another Sardine/Pilchard/Squid/Plankton Blue model, and the side panels & h/lamp ears were blue (not white) with the '250' emblem background in white. Interesting model-change updates. I think Brew is right with his obs on marketing ploys! Next time you see the girlie riding the CB250 in your manor, you can now have the excuse to jump into the road in front of her: blame me!
A few images of market derivatives here. There's a teal blue model with northern European winkers (Germany/Holland?) which, I was relieved to see, has fork gaiters; I thought the one that I'm picking up soon had been bastardised!

Some of the models got missed out in the UK because one boat load lasted longer than the model change. For that reason, I don't think we got K1's The cam and timing changed between K0 and K2, I seem to remember. Typical Honda - lower revs and less power were the result, but, presumably fewer warranty claims. The seat went from smooth to a ribbed (for extra pleasure?) cover. My bike had the wrong front mudguard as I couldn't get the correct one like yours. Worcester or Gloucester would work for me. My wife's folks live near Stow on the Wold.
