I'm always looking for a rare cycle to try to get, what would be the rare ones in your mind to look for and keep between 1961 and 1979, Japanese that is.

CB750 K0
Kawasaki H1 and H2
CBX

But if it were me I wouldn't collect a bike based on the fact that its collectible to others. You have to like the bike also.

Yes, but their are collectors and their are restorers, I'm a collector. I do a little restoring, but I'm not very good at it yet.

The CB500 twin is probably about the scarcest commodity from the Honda department during those years. That and the Benly racer.
Anything pre-1970 from Kaw, Suz or Yam. It seems the mostly 2 stroke offerings from them were more disposable.

Maybe take a step back a few years, look for something from the 50's, such as a Benly JC56(57/58), Dream SA/SB/ME, or if you get really lucky, a Dream D/E.

I thought I'd share this with you guys...a super rare Honda (in the US at least). It's called the Motocompo, and it's got a 2-stroke 50cc scooter drivetrain, with centrifugal clutch and CVT. Model year 1981 only, model # NCZ50. It was sold in Japan as an option with the Honda City microcar... bars and seat fold down and fits in the rear compartment. I've got one that's pretty beat up but it's still tons of fun and I can even do wheelies on it now (all legal of course).

Here's a page I found, check out the cheesy ads: http://gadgets.3yen.com/2005-04-01/the-honda-motocompo/
