Has anyone used this? I am thinking about trying it on my drain plug threads.

I never did, but would you be able to get a another oil screener assy on Ebay for close to what fixing threads would cost?Just a thought.

I used this stuff this weekend:
I do not recommend it for drain plug threads. It was hard to apply and messy. It did work, but I feel that repeated removal and installing the drain plug will pull the threads.

Helicoil is the only way to go.

I second that answer. I've used that Permatex product with near disasterous results on the
oil filter retainer bolt to a Honda 750. The product failed, the oil filter, & cup blew off. I lost all
of my oil, and rear wheel traction after driving through the oil, causing me to dump the bike
right on the entrance ramp of an Interstate highway. I believe if this failure had occured on
the highway, I wouldn't be here to make this post.
"Helicoil" is the only way to go, however beware of the generics. "Helicoils" firmly lock themselves
in place. The generics I've tried, unscrewed with the bolt or plug, and are difficult to reinstall.
You'll never have that problem with "Helicoils".
Stripped threads

Helicoil or Keensert which is a solid thread insert. See link.

One other alternative is to use a larger thread drain bolt......I think they go as big as 14mm thread. Auto supply stores have a good variety for generic applications.
Good luck,

The Keensert is a good product.Had a 72' Harley Sprint SS350 acouple of years ago that had stripped head bolt holes and header pipe holes.Had a machine shop install these and they held great.
