Hi all,
Yesterday evening I went through a few boxes of pre-1962 CB72 / 77 stuff trying to find a few parts for someone, when I found a very early crankcase, with, of course, the strange breather. But this breather is different then the others I encountered, it has a removable top with some kind of filter, anyone any clue ?

My 61/62 cases have the tower breather and a circular breather that slips inside the tower and rests an a wire spring of some sort. I don't recall the top being removable, but i could be wrong. Do you have any pictures we can use to ID it?

Hi Teazer,
I have a few crankcases with this breather, but this one is different.
Yes, I'll take some pictures and put them here, but that will be in the weekend.
It probably is a self made thing from the past, I have many "strange parts" that where Macgyver 'ed by creative minds.

Sorry, to take so long, but I got busy.
That looks like a P/O modification. Stock Honda breather breathes out inside the kickstarter cover as I recall.
I have a picture here somewhere of a set of 61 cases # CB72E-112157 which are still in Australia. My 62 cases 212477 did not have a breather.

Hi,
I have enough 61 cases to compare, as I see many small differences in the cases, this is a big difference, but I second your opinion,

Jensen,
What is the number on that crankcase? It looks different to my 61 upper. For example it has two studs in teh picture coming up from the lower case. I have not seen that before.
