Barn Find: Need PartsBarn Find: Need PartsI recently came across a '66 Scrambler 305 in a barn. It is in pretty rough shape and needs a complete rebuild. (New cables, gas tank, seat, clutch, brakes, lights... Where can I find a repair manual and what is the best place to find parts at a reasonable price? I was also wondering approximately how much does it cost to restore? Thanks for any help.

The whole restoration cost to me is determined by how deep you really want to go. If you want it show, then it gets fairly expensive because you are most likely farming out jobs to other subs. If you decide to take on painting, etc yourself to do a good restoration, it won't be as expensive. But in my somewhat limited experience, it is hard to find certain parts---there are repo's made of things but by far my favorite go to guy was Nick at Ohio Cycles, he has a majority of the small parts you will need like rubber parts, etc. The bigger parts are definitely Ebay and the cables usually come from Honda Restoration, Ohio Cycle, etc. There are cables on EBAY but it is few and far between that you find a very nice cable on there, remember these bikes are close to 50 years old and the sheaths become cracked and weathered. I, myself, liked the powdercoating avenue for the black parts on the bike but some maybe don't like it---to me it was quick, easy, and the cost was minimal compared to someone painting it. You can do powder on the gray parts but there can't be any dents, etc or the powder will show off any little crease or ding and powder will not stick to filler.
